The capacity for phenotypic plasticity will be critical in determining how fish populations cope with climate change. In this review, Madison Earhart, Tessa Blanchard, Adam Harman, and Patricia Schulte summarize what is known about phenotypic plasticity in fishes in response to high temperature and low oxygen to ask how much resilience plasticity may provide in the face of a warming planet.
